Formulize is software for collecting and organizing information.
Absolutely everything about Formulize is configurable, from the forms that people use, to the permissions that control who can use them, to the screens where all your data shows up.
The beauty of Formulize is that the people who know how the system should work, can be the people who actually make it work that way.
And for developers, the configuration-based approach makes it extremely easy to deploy complex systems, and extremely fast to respond when clients want changes (they always want changes).
For AI, the configuration gives a complete roadmap to the entire system. Your AI tools will immediately understand how your system works and why it works that way, so they can easily generate reports, do data entry, or even help you create entire applications from scratch.
Formulize was first released publically in January 2005. It has been developed in the open ever since, licensed under GPL-2.0, so it's completely free and always will be.

Open Source Developer of the Year
At the Confoo web technology conference in Montreal in March 2026, Formulize lead developer Julian Egelstaff won the Open Source Developer of the Year award.

The first Formulize Summit
In August 2022 Formulize users met for a day in Toronto, to learn from each other and to launch Formulize 7. The opening talk is online.
Where your data lives
If we host your system, your data stays in Canada and is backed up every night. If your organisation has particular requirements — a records retention schedule, a procurement checklist, a written response commitment — those can be built into your arrangement during setup.
Alternatively, you can self-host, and your data is on your server, under your rules. We never see it.
